ALBERT YORK’s (b. 1928) most recent Davis & Langdale exhibition
was in 2007.
He has had one-person exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston,
in 1982,
and at the Mills College Art Gallery, Oakland, California, in 1992. In
1995, after a
rare interview with the artist, Calvin Tomkins wrote an extensive profile
of York
for The New Yorker. In 2001, York received the Francis J Greenburger
Award. His
paintings are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art,
New
York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio;
the
Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, New York; the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery,
Lincoln, Nebraska; and the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut.
